To whom it may concern From Leon GUNIN,
This letter is an appeal for an urgent help. It speaks about one of the most suffering people on Mother Earth - Mrs. Hiena KONITSA (pronounced as "Kunica" or "Coonica"). If someone deserves our compassion - it's her. Born in ex-USSR from parents, in whose passports it was indicated: "Jew", she became a victim of her husband, an alcoholic and sadist. (She had 3 children with him). For many years she was suffering from unspeakable tortures, batteries and humiliations. Lack of social institutions and tools (which was typical for Soviet middle-size cities) made her victimization more and more dramatic and profound. The only place, where she could turn for help, was police. Policemen only mocked of her. In her mind an idea that she was primarily a victim of racism - because her husband wasn't a Jew, - has formed. She decided to emigrate to Israel: a country, which pretended to be a fair asylum for all persecuted Jews. However, she has found out that in Israel ontological, daily-life violence, cruelty and hatred is even more widespread then in her native Belarus. She was attacked, assaulted, beaten, injured, humiliated, mistreated, discriminated, persecuted, and abused because her ex-husband was not a Jew, because she is a Christian, because she came "from Russia", because of her age and non-Israeli mentality. When in January 1977 she arrived in Canada as a refugee claimant, she had innumerous certificates: from police, hospitals, social, public and governmental organizations - and other documentary proof. Reading all these documents, I could not resist an impression that Israeli authorities and Israeli Jewish "anti-Russian" activists (and Christian-haters) have persecuted her mostly because of her Christian faith. All immigration consultants and lawyers, to whom Mrs. Konitsa has turned for help in Canada, basically had the same opinion. Two reasons became a source of Mrs. Konitsa's inadequate representation before the Immigration and Refugee Board (Panel). 1) She had a non-adequate psychological approach and no system in description of events. She often mixes secondary details - and the most important thesis. She is a person, whose suffering from a post-traumatic stress disorder made her inadequate; she was psychologically and physically abused; her reaction was deeply affected by the violence, directed at her, by all her horrific experience. 2) Since 1996-97 legal aide in Canada lays in a deep crisis. People, who have no money to pay a lawyer, are misrepresented. Many professional, well-known lawyers, who later helped Mrs. Konitsa for free or almost for free, could not repair this initial damage, done at the early stage (refugee claim). However, the Panel still could easily understand that Mrs. Konitsa is someone, whose life will become a drastic nightmare if she would be deported back to Israel. The Panel has ignored important documentary proof, difficult psychological state of the claimant (the victim), her situation in Israel regarding her Christian faith. Mrs. Konitsa has presented a medical certificate from Belarus, which said that by then she had virtually no illnesses. Another medical certificate, issued in Israel few years later, speaks about her multiple illnesses, including schizophrenia. Even if she had schizophrenia before, it wasn't manifested in her. Obviously, it is another reason to believe in extremity of her suffering in Israel. An independent psychological evaluation has spoken about the same. Her 2-years immigration ordeal has resulted in an airplane flight back to Israel in January 1999. The mechanism behind rejection of her refugee claim was obvious for everyone, including the poor refugee claimant herself. In her letter to the Minister of Immigration Mrs. Konitsa wrote: "As you know, Honorable Minister, there is an agreement between Israel and Canada not to accept Israeli refugees, because Israel wants to keep a worldwide image of democracy; and disguise the ill freatments of citizens such as me". Back in Israel, Hiena Konitsa became a victim of even more unspeakable acts of abuse and persecution, directed at her. In the form of Hiena's removal from Canada Israeli authorities have received from Canadian Immigration a pardon (a permit) to torture, persecute and humiliate their victim. When Hiena Konitsa has managed to come in Canada again, - her request for a refugee hearing was unfairly turned down. She was much better presented legally this time. Lawyers and para-legals, moved by compassion, have offered her their free services. Alexiy Drozdovsky, Hassan Hassani, Natalia Zemenko and others were shocked by cruelty of Mrs. Konitsa's treatment in Canadian institutions - from Immigration to Federal Court. Hiena's appeals to the Federal Court, humanitarian appeal, risk of return, and demand for the Minister's permit - were gradually rejected. Hiena's horrible suffering in Israel, which could touch a devil, left bureaucrats emotionless. On contrary, Immigration has reacted to victim's desperate cry with brutality and injustice. Every country to the south of Europe, every nation is defending its identity, its culture and religion. Only we neglect our European culture, which has developed itself under the roof of Christianity. We permit or even encourage Israeli government and Israeli solders to vandalize and destroy Christian holy places in the Holy Land, churches, Christian property, kill and persecute Christians, boycott, ban and harass Armenian, Greek and Russian orthodox clerics and their churches. We encourage Israel to persecute carriers of our culture and religion, and when few of the victims knock in our door (expecting our solidarity), we extradite them to our enemies. By deporting people like Hiena back to the Jewish country we are telling Israel that we don't mind if Israelis will continue to persecute, torture and sometimes kill former and actual citizens of European countries, USA and Canada (Rachel Corrie, a US citizen and peace activist, was brutally killed by Israeli solders, who smashed her by bulldozer), and destroy the most important for Europeans objects in the Holy Land. In her perfectly done for Mrs. Konitsa PRRA (Risk of Return) demand, one of the best immigration lawyers, Maitre Natalia Zimenko wrote: "On August 13 2001, she was assaulted in Tel Aviv by religious fanatics because of her Christian faith. Following this incident, she went to a Poly-clinic in order to be treated for her injuries. Afterwards, she went to police - to make a complaint about the assault, but received no help from the police authorities. On July 24 2002, she was assaulted in the street (near the house of a Christian friend by the name of Margarita) by a religious fanatic. He told her that there is no place for Christians in a {Jewish} Holy place like Israel. She returned to the Poly-clinic and was treated for contusions on her ankle. Another attempt was made to the police to report the incident. However, she received the same reaction from the authorities: no action. On August 3rd 2002, the applicant was raped by her employer in his residence located in the city of Tsfat. She went to the police station to report the rape. They failed to take the complaint and send her to the hospital for examination. On February 20 2003, the applicant was attacked by neighbors during a Christian religious gathering in the house of Olga in the city of Tel-Aviv. The police came to the residence. Instead of handling the assault incidents, the police threatened to arrest all the participants in the religious meeting if it was to be held again." (Christian missionary activity is illegal in Israel, as well as conversion of a Jew into the Christian faith. Israeli criminal law gives the term "missionary activity" a very wide interpretation, in term to punish (imprison, etc.) anyone for neglecting or "betraying" Judaism). All these events are typical for persecutions of Christians in Israel. Israeli society is deeply divided to segments, while not every segment is equally presented in Israeli elite and the government. As the most "totally" organized, Israeli right-wing native-born ultra-orthodoxes have captured more power then anybody else. Maitre Zimenko has wrote the next: "The documentary evidence that we have submitted in her case is most recent. You will notice that a high ranking political official of the Israeli government, Mr. Ely Ishay - a new Minister of Internal Affairs (SHAS party), - has openly and defiantly attacked the Russian and Christian community In Israel." "The ultra right wing and protectionist attitude of the Minister of Internal Affairs makes the state an agent of persecution by inciting the public to follow and implement his policy. Every part of the country is aware of his course and actions have been taken to carry out his program. Based on the above, there is a reasonable chance that persecution and risk to life and cruel and unusual treatment or punishment would take place if Mrs. Konitsa will be removed to Israel." "It is noteworthy to mention that (according to the Law) Mrs. Konitsa doesn't has to show a probability of persecution but only a reasonable chance. In view of the above, Mrs. Konitsa has established her objective fear of returning to Israel." Hiena Komitsa's deportation to Israel is a brutal (inhuman) action, which must be remembered for its exceptional cruelty. But what we can expect in a country, where the Ministry of Immigration is presented in the Federal Court by a Jewish Zionist Mr. Morris Rosenberg, and 2 former Ministers of Immigration - Lucienne Robillard and Elinor Kaplan - had Israeli - Jewish roots? May be the Canadian government did not understand that the Jews (I mean "organized Jews") are anxious to stop admission of Israeli "traitors" in Canada, and to give such a Jew a position to govern Immigration is the same as putting a fox to "govern" chicken? Hiena treats the deportation order, submitted to her by Canadian Immigration as a death penalty. For her returning to Israel is death. No wonder that she has refused to obey the order, and staying in Canada hiding from the authorities. Having no money to subsist, no place to live, no bread to eat, this 64 years old women preferred extreme hardship in Canada, but not to return to Israel. She's going through another ordeal, through another tormenting wheel - for her right to be herself. She is one of the Christian martyrs, who must be respected as saints for their suffering from the brutal anti-Christian Israeli regime and its offensive "lobbi" in Canada. Hiena has two children in Canada, Canadian landed immigrants, and even this did not influenced Immigration's sinister decision. She's from my native city - and many years before I used to know her. She had a responsible job, and was fully adequate socially. Knowing her background and social - cultural roots, I can affirm that her suffering is one of the most dramatic human tragedies. Please, help her!
Yours,
