With love and hope and quiet glory
Deception flattered us not long,
All youthful funny, funny moments wore off
As dream, as morning dawn.
But we're still burning with desire
Under this deadly fateful power
By restless soul and all impatience
We hark to native land's petitions.
We wait in hopes and languor minutes
Of sacred freedom, as the youth
Counts endless seconds to first meeting
With his unique and darling miss.
While freedom sparkles in the eyes,
While our hearts still live for honour
My friend, let's give to fatherland
This sunny impulse of the soul.
My friends, let's trust! It will rise up,
This star of charming lucky fortune
And on the fragments of despotism
They'll write all our simple names.
