The reciter was calling the names of the officers and explained that these officers held firm, which set a positive example for ordinary soldiers.
According to the chain of names of officers and generals - Barclay, Bagration, etc. - it became clear to me that we were talking about the Patriotic War of 1812, about the Battle of Borodino.
Anyone can find all this information in Wikipedia. But these lectures, as I assume, are organized with direct or indirect financial support from the state.
