In the course of reading books on subjects of international policy personally at me (without any separate purpose and without any separate efforts) the opinion on three most vigorous (prolific) and competent (modern) authors, are writing (were writing) on this subject, was created. Their names and surnames are Yuri Mikhailovich Galenovich (born April 20, 1932), Anatoly Ivanovich Utkin (February 4, 1944 - January 19, 2010, Moscow), George Iosifovich Chernyavsky (born November 29, 1931).
I looked at Wikipedia articles about these three authors.

Chernyavsky is the winner of the Lomonosov Prize (Moscow) [apparently, it is a prize from Moscow State University]. He was awarded the Bulgarian Order of Cyril and Methodius of the First Degree and the Grand Gold Medal of Sofia University ... "
About it it is even somehow terrible, shy, indecent to think of that these knowing people, people of knowledge, took noticeable places in the state hierarchy...

It is more or less clear that a writing of a books did not bring any noticeable money (in the USSR - Russia) to any of these authors.
Most likely, each of them has (had) an apartment received (acquired) by him in person or received by inheritance.
No mention was found of any premiums in the biographies of Galenovich and Utkin. And the premiums (many) are more a honor than a real money (especially in our country the state does not indulge creative people with money. What to expect from them if they feel the "will"? When they are thanking and asking, it is somehow more reliable ... ).
They live (lived), most likely on a pension means (Utkin died). Pension is whose merit - of the Constitution of 1936 or of the today's efforts? Chernyavsky - lives in the USA, so this is a separate situation.
