How to attach a сalpack to a Belarusian Vyshyvanka? A fragment of a super-brief review of Yasmin Serkhan's material in The Atlantic magazine.

The world community is more and more interested in Belarus events.

So, the publication on December 27, 2020 of an interview with Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya in Atlantic magazine is news a pleasant one, but not an extraordinary. (https://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2020/12/belarus-opposition-joe-biden/617450/?fbclid=IwAR3ciW60wSMo8iwBg681ohIxbwHUy6KrnBCMdU9SyJVi7XW4xsIfAF).

(The Atlantic is an American magazine and multi-platform publisher. - Wikipedia.).

It's interesting to read this interview.

But let's remember Pierre Cardin and think: is it necessary to attach a сalpack [kalpak, or qalpaq] up to a Belarusian Vyshyvanka [Belarusian embroidered shirt]?

In this fragment I would like to speak not about the thoughts of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya (correspondingly - the name "fragment"), but about the ideas of Yasmin Serkhan.

Who is she - Yasmin Serkhan?

In the material dated December 27, 2020, there is an explanation: "YASMIN SERKHAN is a staff writer from London at The Atlantic." If the magazine is published in the United States, then, apparently, Yasmin Serkhan lives in London. "Staff writer" - it's a writing employee? It's not necessarily a "writer"?

So, let's move on to issues with which we disagree, or about which we feel doubt.

Speaking about the protests in Belarus, Yasmin Serkhan builds a such series, such line (row): 'recall the failed uprising against Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela, the dormant 'yellow vest' demonstrations in France, and the crumbling prodemocracy movement in Hong Kong.'

  Dont need it, thanks!

Europe has a history, and the European history has an inner logic. Europe, especially France, has always demonstrated a benevolent attitude, support towards the Commonwealth. Yasmin Serkhan, may be, does not know (concerning her views - this is a presumptive judgment, it's a question), that even in the 20th century a significant (if not most) part of Belarus was part of the Western World, that this part of Belarus was part of the Second Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth? Owing to the consistent, centuries-old European, French support of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth - since the Partition in 1795 - Poland restored her independence and sovereignty in the 20th century.

Therefore, there is no need to sew, to attach unnecessary historical analogies up to the Belarusian protests.

Dear Yasmin Serkhan is mentioning the issue of events in Hong Kong in the material on the Belarusian protests.

With all our sympathy for the protests in Hong Kong, we (as well as to (for, on) Saddam Hussein's Iraqi theme) are strongly objecting! Such comparisons are not needed.

At the same time, let us express our personal assumption. A Chinese civilization - one of the oldest - skillfully maneuvers, based on the principle of polycentrism.

If there are mainland China and Taiwan (one nation - Chinese, but two states ...), why not to think about the third center, about the third state - about Hong Kong?

Let's see how the events will develop ... Perhaps Yasmin Serkhan is needlessly worried about Hong Kong - in general, and in connection with the events in Belarus - in particular.

We will not rush to conclusions about the prospects for Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela. The behavior of Nicolas Maduro is becoming more and more nervous and more and more hopeless ... I personally do not see any particular reason for premature recognition of the victory of Nicholas Maduro ... We must admit that he is an outstanding master of maneuvers, but for maneuvers he has less and less space ...

From the topic of France, Hong Kong (China) and Venezuela, Yasmin Serkhan turns to the topic of the United States - to the topic of US policy towards the protests in Belarus after August 9, 2020.

Oh, what a despondency was felt in certain circles after the meeting of Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya with U.S. First Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Bigan on August 24, 2020 in Vilnius!

Yasmin Serkhan - a US foreign policy specialist (in general)? Is she an expert on US policy concerning protests in Belarus (after August 9, 2020)?

'Although Washington has condemned Lukashenko's human-rights abuses and leveled sanctions against his allies, the response from Donald Trump's White House has been rather muted-something his successor has already pledged to change.

'We're really waiting for Biden,' Tsikhanouskaya said ... "- Yasmin Serkhan writes.

This is an interesting formulation of the question. Is respected Yasmin Serkhan showing to readers a picture: the policy of the Donald Trump administration is opposing to the policy of the administration of Joseph Biden? And Yasmin Serkhan connects Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya to these competent ideas?

The attention of the media around the world to the Belarusian protests is an important condition for the victory of the Belarusian people.

But in some cases, there is a desire to say: do not sew a сalpack to a Belarusian Vyshyvanka!
