What is a human rights protection? May be, it's the legendary people who came out at the sharp moment of the story with posters? These are authors of critical literary works?..
Maybe the real human rights protection is a political institutions - (a) free elections and separation of powers, (b) freedom of speech (in a broad sense), (C) the institution of jury, (d) freedom of citizens to own weapons?
As for the freedom of citizens to own weapons - the relevant traditions in Russia are minimal. We deduce this subject 'behind a brackets'.
Free elections and separation of powers had some traditions in Russia. But what a strange thing, no one was surprised when the period of "perestroika" began to be a return to something like a curia-class system of elections. A strange "beginning of democracy" - to fall back, leaving behind the norms of the Constitution of 1936, to the system of views of approximatly of year 1904. What is it - the quota of deputies from public or scientific organizations? What is it like?
Or the gradual emergence of a strange modern system of formation of the Federation Council.
I will not go into details - the subject is immense.
In general, I personally did not notice any legendary person with protests. Some even used the likeness of the curia-class system of "elections" of deputies.
Freedom of speech is again a broad topic. The emergence of lists of "not recommended" books - how to treat to this? Normal society, normal social environment, normal education - these are the conditions of resistance to "wrong" views. Again - the theme is immense. Again didn't notice much objection. I will add the question of the destruction of the national book market - maybe some journalists expressed indignation.
The institution of jury - how stubbornly, step by step, limited and restricted its sphere. No "legendary people" with protests were noticed (?).
In General, we have what we have. Plus the awards are - very a honorable.
There is another important area of activity - is to help individuals in their individual situations. Of course, such help causes only respect.
It remains to conclude these brief reflections with the question from which they were began: "What is a human rights protection?"
