The southern Sakhalin city court on Thursday rejected the petition of representatives of Rosrybolovstvo for cessation of production at the claim of the zooprotective organizations demanding to set free killer whales and white whales from the Srednyaya Bay in Primorsky Krai, the correspondent of TASS tells.
Representing the Agency Alexey Panov said that the trial could not continue because of the uncertainty of the plaintiffs ' claims. According to him, "the plaintiffs chose the wrong way to protect their rights, they do not specify how exactly the right of citizens, and plaintiffs [claimants] personally, were violated."
The lawyer of regional public organization "Ecological Watchkeeping of Sakhalin" Natalya Lisitsyna objected that "any illegal withdrawal of a part of the environment will violate the rights of citizens". At the same time, she reminded, the law "About Environmental Protection" allows public organizations to protect the rights of citizens in this sphere.

Claimants demand to recognize inaction of Rosprirodnadzor in this situation as illegal and also to oblige him to withdraw gratuitously animals from business firms and to release to the native habitat. Also they ask to recognize as illegal a number of orders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rosrybolovstvo on the statement of admissible volume of killer whales and white whales in 2018, distribution of quotas for their catch and the approval of plans of fishery in the cultural and educational purposes.
